Relevant, Urban Ministry | Real people in a real world, working to uplift and encourage ALL regardless of race, gender or socio-economic status. A group that values diversity, compassion, authenticity and fellowship.

Our Story

From 1997 to 2002 Rev. Roberto I. Torres served as Counselor for rehabilitating drug and alcohol addicts, Youth Pastor, and later as Lay Leader at Southside Hispanic Ministry in Milwaukee. This time of ministry gave Pastor Rob invaluable experiences in urban ministry.

As a result of these experiences, Pastor Rob saw the need for culturally relevant ministry in an increasingly multi-cultural city.  God placed in his heart a desire to reach those who were not being reached by more traditional means.

Back in 1998, Everlasting Mercy Fellowship was simply a name given to Pastor Rob in a vision.  Through prayer, the vision was amplified to include a citywide ministry that would focus on fellowship, deep study of God's word and Hip-Hop to reach the present generation.

In order to move forward with the vision God gave, Pastor Rob moved on from the Southside Hispanic Ministry. He met with other leaders in the community who shared the same vision. In November 2002, a small group of leaders and family members met to plan Everlasting Mercy Fellowship's first service.

Everlasting Mercy Fellowship held its first worship service at a downtown hotel and conference center in December of 2002. People of many races, languages, ages and backgrounds gathered together for fellowship and discipleship.

In early 2003, Everlasting Mercy Fellowship was steadily growing and continuing to develop its core of leaders. This growth brought about the need for a new, larger location, so EMF began to lease Our Savior's Lutheran Church on Wisconsin Avenue for Sunday services.

The vision of reaching the community with relevant ministry was expanded further with the launch of F.L.O.W. (Fellowship Leaning On The Word) in January 2005.  F.L.O.W. is a Hip-Hop style praise and worship service featuring freestyle battles, live music, and biblical teaching.  This new outreach saw tremendous growth - by the end of February, attendance jumped from 20 youth the first week to about 100 youth and adults.

This confirmed the need to further tie in this new style of worship into EMF's existing Sunday services. The congregation is encouraged to use their gifts to minister – gifts of writing poetry, rapping, singing and more.  To incorporate the spectrum of languages and cultures represented at Everlasting Mercy, EMF now holds bi-lingual (English and Spanish) worship services tailored for a diverse congregation.

In November 2007, God miraculously opened the door to a full facility in Racine, on behalf of New Hope Church of the Lakeland Baptist Association.  The expanded space has opened doors to better serve the community, and has provided a time of growth and development for new leaders.  Members from Milwaukee and Racine gather together weekly to serve and fellowship.

Beyond the vision of a multi-cultural fellowship, EMF is a place that equips members for daily life as well as the ministry God is calling them to. Home Groups provide not only fellowship, but a solid foundation of biblical knowledge.  These in-depth classes teach the importance of learning God's Word, developing your personal gifts, and working to reach your community and the world.
